This project occupies an area of 5000 ft.sq. on a lot in the borough of Ahunsic-Cartierville in Montreal. The concept for the interior breaks the mold of traditional residential layouts by allowing the uninterrupted flow between the various areas of the house on the ground floor (living, dining and kitchen spaces) and bedrooms above. The design strategy behind the layout draws on the desire to exploit the large open space volumes for the public areas. The interior is reflective of the centrality through a grand spiral staircase at the heart of the residence. The common areas linked to this central space are oriented towards the south and the west, therefore flooded by sunlight throughout the day.
